How to treat Atopic Dermatitis ( Eczema) in Chinese Medicine


Atopic Dermatitis is a chronic, superficial inflammation of the skin that is characterized by itching. They are commonly affected in side of the elbows and the back of the knee. Innate insufficiency cause spleen and stomach dysfunction of transport and transform function cause Damp-heat. When a person exposes to wind, damp and heat excess condition then these all accumulate in the skin thus leading to dermatitis.

In Chinese Medicine, we can categorize into three major stage bases on the pattern of three stage:
  1. Fetal heat (infants develop in utero)
  2. Damp-heat (older children)
  3. Blood dryness (mainly in adults)

Herbs that clear toxic heat, expel damp and tonify the blood will be used Herbs that clear toxic heat, expel dampness and tonify the blood will be used Internally and externally.
